We make moves happen every day, 365 days a year. Most moves take place 7:30AM-11PM but our team is happy to accommodate after hour moves when needed. *Holiday appointments are scheduled on a limited basis.
Local moving in the province of BC is charged by the hour, but our hourly rate depends on the number of crew members it takes to safely and efficiently complete your move. Get your free moving estimate today!
Yes, our hourly minimum is three hours.
If you are limited by any date and time restraints, we recommend scheduling your move as far in advance as possible, especially if you plan on moving in summer. Tortoise Moving does not require any deposit or cancellation fees so there is no downside to booking your move early. However, if you call short notice with any last minute requests, our team will do everything they can to accommodate you and your move.
We accept cash, debit and credit card.
No we do not require a deposit. We understand plans change and we do not believe in enforcing penalties for changes or cancellations. However, if you foresee any changers and need to change your move or cancel your move date and time, we do appreciate as much notice as possible, that way we can work with you to reschedule your move! Advanced notice also allows us to release your original move date and time to another customer on our waitlist.
We service local moves within the entire province of BC and are happy to assist with long distance moves to Alberta.
Tortoise moving provides moving services up to 4 bedrooms.
Tipping is certainly optional, but our crews appreciate it if you decide to provide gratuity for exceptional service. The amount is left to your discretion, but we recommend $5-$10 per mover per hour of excellent service.
Tortoise Moving can move pianos, but we recommend a professional pool table company to disassemble and reassemble your prized pool table. Howver, we would be happy to relocate it for you!
While damage is rare, extenuating circumstances do sometimes occur that can result in damaged articles. Our team will always do our best to repair any damages quickly and to your satisfaction, but if you need to report a damage claim, simply contact your move coordinator and they will work with you to take care of everything right away.
Yes! All of our trucks will be equipped with dollies, blankets, and all the moving essentials our crew needs to make your move a success. While basic moving equipment is standard with each move, your move coordinator will itemize any additional materials you may need access to on move day.
An estimate is just that, an estimate, so it is possible the actual hours of move any differ slightly. To ensure you only pay for the time you actually use, all bills are prorated to the closest 15 minutes (after the 2 hour minimum has been met).
While you are more than welcome to help get things ready for the moving crew, our insurance does not allow anyone other than the Tortoise Moving crew members to load and unload the moving truck. We encourage you to take this time to kick back and relax as the heavy lifting gets done for you!
